emc design not only designs and produces materials for the publishing industry, we also research (and clear the rights for) images and commission illustrations from our huge database of artists. We enjoy building up good relationships with the artists we use and enjoy collaborating with them on projects, as well as saying hello on social media. Which is where the idea for this post came from!
We’ve recently started following Celia Hart (an artist we’ve used for many years in our ELT work) on Instagram and loved seeing her latest prints develop from an idea into a final design. Celia is a talented artist who creates a range of commissioned illustrations as well as prints by using printmaking techniques with lino and wood. We thought it would be really interesting to document the process of her most recent linocut “A song in my heart” which has been inspired by the Robin in the hedgerow near Celia’s studio in Suffolk and Valentine’s day which is just around the corner.
If you’ve enjoyed seeing Celia’s pieces being created make sure you follow her on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for regular updates.
And if you have a project that requires some artwork with that little bit of something special then please get in touch with us to have a chat about how we can help.
I follow Celia on Facebook. Her prints are so charming. I just love them! These two are perfect as Valentines. It’s fun to see the simple, yet precise process. Thanks.
Nicely done Mike – we’re lucky owners of several of Celia’s linocut prints.
