We’re excited as the IATEFL International Annual Conference & Exhibition kicks off today! With over 2,500 ELT professionals from more than 100 countries attending and a 4-day programme of around 500 talks, workshops and symposiums as well as a vibrant social programme, it’s going to be a great few days.

Sophie from emc, who is also on the MaWSIG events committee has been working hard with the rest of the MaWSIG team to bring you today’s PCE: Print vs. digital: Is it really a competition?  The pre-conference event will explore the skills and techniques that material writers need to create professional, engaging and relevant materials for a range of different teaching contexts, such as primary, secondary, adult, exams or ESP. Delegates will walk away with refreshed thinking, new knowledge and – perhaps most importantly – new ideas to help them create English language teaching materials, whether for digital, print, or a blend of both. You can view the full MaWSIG PCE programme here.

Along with the PCE, the team will be on the look out for MaWSIG speakers for their next event at the BESIG Conference in Munich, in November.

We’re excited to announce that this year’s BESIG Conference in Munich, Germany, will include a MaWSIG thread.
The conference runs from Friday 4 November to Sunday 6 November and there will be a Materials Writing workshop or talk during every session.
We are therefore looking for MaWSIG speakers. Your topic does not have to be specifically Business English, but it should be broad enough to appeal to BE specialists. There is more information about proposals here.
We’re working with BESIG to put this event together, so please use the form on the BESIG website to send in your Materials Writing proposal. The deadline is 1 May 2016. Good Luck! – MaWSIG

Sophie will be at the conference all week so make sure to come and say hello!
