This Sunday marks Mother’s day in the UK and Ireland! No excuses if you had forgotten!

The celebration is a very old one and started originally possibly as a religious celebration for the mother church, called Mothering Sunday. Over the years observance of the celebration waned until the early 20th century when Anna Jarvis in the USA campaigned to have a recognised holiday to celebrate mothers. This soon spread to other countries and now it is widely know throughout the world, though it is celebrated on different dates depending on where you live.

Wishing all mothers in this land a lovely day this Sunday!
