This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing and the iconic words “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”
Commander Neil Armstrong and lunar module pilot Buzz Aldrin landed the Apollo Lunar Module Eagle on July 20, 1969. Command module pilot Michael Collins flew the command module Columbia alone in lunar orbit while they were on the Moon’s surface.
Our picture of the week was taken by Collins as the lunar module, containing Armstrong and Aldrin, returned from the surface of the Moon.
