We’re looking forward to all the exciting events coming up in the New Year including IATEFL’s Materials Writing Special Interest Group’s (MaWSIG) 2016 Conference: New Ways of Working for New Ways of Learning, sponsored by Macmillan Education. Sophie from emc design, who is also on the MaWSIG events committee talks us through what we can expect.

“The events committee work really hard to ensure that we put on a range of events that meet our diverse membership base. ivermectina uso veterinario And so back in the summer we started devising plans for our 2016 conference. We wanted an event that would give lots of people, no matter what area of the ELT industry they work in, lots of really useful information. And so we have put together a programme that mixes very practical ideas that people can implement in their working lives straight away, to exploring in a more theoretical way what is going on in our classrooms. And then consequently what this means for us as people involved in creating materials for English language learners.

It should be a fantastic day of learning and sharing and is a really useful precursor to our Pre Conference Event (Print Vs digital: Is it really a competition?) at IATEFL’s main conference in April.

New Ways of Working for New Ways of Learning takes place in London on 20th February 2016 at Macmillan’s new event space The Stables. Delegates will start by looking at how digital has an impact on our work-life balance and seeks advice from three experts on how to achieve inner calm. Graham Allcott’s talk “Working smarter, not harder” looks at 9 rules for being a productivity ninja. Well known ELT author Antonia Clare will look at what working in a digital space means for the material writer in an online-collaborative working sense. And experienced yoga practitioner Bev Alderson will share her top tips for looking after our physical and mental well-being in our hectic lives.

The day will then move on to explore how digital materials are being used in the classroom with two pedagogically focused talks. Julie Norton and Heather Buchanan will be examining the skills ELT writers need to have to be able to write effective materials for digital and online learning. And then Debra Marsh and Thom Kiddle will look at the pedagogical implications of these new materials and what this means for the classrooms we teach and learn in.

Our final session gives everyone the opportunity to discuss and reflect in smaller groups key takeaways from the day. durvant ivermectin paste for horse used on sheep for slaughter  These focus groups will be facilitated by some of the speakers and the MaWSIG committee and will provide a more personal application and round up to the day.
