I came across this article whilst on one of our LinkedIn groups and it poses an interesting solution to some of the set backs of digital editions of text books. The idea of Amazon loaning textbooks and students still being able to retain their notes and highlights is a good one in principle. However, as much as I love my Kindle, for reading fiction more easily with one hand, I can’t imagine doing all of my studies on one.
Equally the idea of abolishing all hard copy textbooks in the developed world leaves the knowledge gap widening for third world countries – who despite advances in technology are still a way off from going completely digital?!
I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens but we think that hard copy books are still here to stay. Especially those that are designed as beautifully as ours are!
